Official AI companion
Create recipes through conversation
The Mangerate AI Recipe Assistant helps you develop, reconstruct, and refine recipes in ChatGPT, then exports a ready-to-import .mgrt file for Mangerate on iPhone and iPad.
The assistant runs in ChatGPT and requires access to ChatGPT. Mangerate is available separately from the App Store.
What the AI Recipe Assistant can do
Develop a new recipe
Describe the ingredients you have, the meal you want, or the cooking method you prefer. Refine the result naturally through conversation.
Recreate a recipe
Provide a photo, screenshot, or other recipe material and ask the assistant to turn it into an organized, editable recipe. This is an optional ChatGPT workflow, not a requirement for scanning recipes in the Mangerate app.
Adapt and improve
Change the serving size, replace unavailable ingredients, adjust technique, or make the instructions clearer before exporting.
Export to Mangerate
When the recipe is ready, ask for a Mangerate file. The assistant creates a downloadable .mgrt file for direct import.
How it works
Start with what you know
Describe the dish, ingredients, constraints, or source material. You do not need to fill out a form.
Refine the recipe
Continue the conversation until the quantities, technique, timing, and presentation suit you.
Request the MGRT file
Ask the assistant to export the finished recipe for Mangerate. It can also include estimated nutrition when requested.
Open it in Mangerate
Download the .mgrt file on your iPhone or iPad and open it. Mangerate imports the recipe so you can save, edit, organize, and share it.
Things you can ask
Built-in scanning vs. the AI Recipe Assistant
Built-in recipe scanning: Use Mangerate itself on your iPhone or iPad to photograph and digitize handwritten or printed recipes. Scanning is an app feature; no separate ChatGPT assistant is necessary.
AI Recipe Assistant: Use ChatGPT to brainstorm dishes, reconstruct incomplete recipes, discuss substitutions, refine instructions, and export the results as .mgrt files for Mangerate.
Both can help bring recipes into your collection, but they are different features. The AI Recipe Assistant is not a workaround for a missing scanner: Mangerate already has its own built-in recipe scanning.
Why use the official assistant?
It is configured specifically for Mangerate’s recipe structure and official MGRT 1.0 file format. The exported recipe is organized for import rather than merely presented as ordinary chat text.
The assistant is especially useful when a recipe begins as an idea, an incomplete description, or a conversation rather than as a cleanly structured webpage.
Images and nutrition
The assistant can estimate nutritional information when requested. Values are estimates and may vary with ingredient brands, exact quantities, preparation, and serving size.
It can also generate a separate representative image of a completed dish. Images are optional; a recipe can be imported into Mangerate without one and edited later in the app.
Privacy and services
Mangerate itself does not require a Mangerate account or display ads. Your recipe collection is stored on your device and synchronized through Apple's iCloud services. Some optional import and scanning features may use remote processing.
The AI assistant operates inside ChatGPT and is therefore subject to the availability, account requirements, and privacy terms of ChatGPT. Using the assistant does not install or unlock Mangerate, and ChatGPT is not required for Mangerate's built-in recipe scanning.
